WHS: Contractors
Church Council and relevant staff within the Synod office are responsible to ensure:
- Effective systems are implemented to manage the work of contractors;
- All Contractor’s relevant documentation is sighted and photocopied (if regular Contractor, annually):
- Appropriate Trade License (eg. electrician, plumber, etc)
- Public Liability Insurance (current policy with appropriate level of cover)
- Workers Compensation Insurance
- Competency Certificates
- Any relevant training undertaken for hazardous situations;
- Induction is relevant to the Contractor’s work;
- Asbestos Register be made available to the Contractor
- Their own employees/volunteers and other persons in the workplace are not put at risk by a Contractor or Sub-Contractor working on the site;
- Any breach by the Contractor or sub-contractor is immediately addressed;
- For major work:
- Full consultation has occurred with church employees and volunteers and the Synod office about the proposed work;
- Any issues or concerns raised during consultation are adequately addressed and reported to the Project Manager (where required);
- Effective monitoring occurs whilst work is being undertaken;
- Regular briefings are held with the Contractor and that minutes are taken;
- All issues such as prohibited areas, fencing, asbestos management, access, egress, identified walkways, dust and noise control, emergency procedures etc. are included in briefing sessions;
- Any changes to contractual agreements are formally minuted.
- Project documentation and briefing minutes are maintained.
