Synod Meeting 2026
Thursday 25 June to Saturday 27 June 2026
Our 2026 Synod meeting was held Thursday 25 June to Saturday 27 June 2026 at Adelaide West Uniting Church & Yarthu Apinthi, both located at 312 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Brooklyn Park.
Membership of the Synod meeting is made up largely of elected or appointed ordained Ministers of the Word and Deacons, those exercising the specified Ministry of Pastor and lay people from congregations. All members have now been elected and should have received further information via email.
The meeting of the Synod considered reports from across the Ministry Centres of the Synod, and discerned the Synod’s response to significant justice issues, as well as engaging with the new Synod Strategic Plan. We elected a new Moderator, Professor Ian Olver AM, who will take up the role at our 2028 Synod meeting. We also appointed our synod’s members to the 18th Assembly meeting being held in Adelaide in 2027.

We gather members from congregations and ministries from across South Australia. In the Uniting Church, the Synod is one of the interrelated councils of the Church, each council having its separate responsibilities, and the requirement to listen to other councils of churches.
