Ministerial Stipends 2021

In 2020, due to the economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Synod Standing Committee determined that no increase to the minimum ministerial stipend and allowances be applied for the period 1 January 2021 – 30 June 2021. An increase of 1.25% at 1 July 2021 was suggested, but was to be confirmed in the first half of 2021.

After reviewing a range of economic data and much deliberation, Stipends Committee recommended an increase to the minimum ministerial stipend of 1.3% for the period 1 July – 31 December 2021. No changes to allowances were recommended. The basis of this recommendation is that the underlying inflation rate for the twelve months ended December 2020 was 1.3%, that is, the cost of living increased by 1.3%.

At its meeting on 9 April 2021 the Synod Standing Committee approved an increase of 1.3% to the minimum ministerial stipend which will apply from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2021.
