Suicide: How can my church help?

If you know someone is in real and immediate danger of taking their own lives, call 000 straight away. If the danger is not immediate, but highly serious, call a crisis line, like Lifeline (13 11 14) or SANE (1800 187 263).

As with any community, churches play a vital role of care and support for those going through difficult circumstances. Through the It's No Secret campaign, many churches have been offering special services and candle lighting rituals of remembrance for those lost to suicide. This is not only a meaningful time for those who are part of your church community, but also for the wider community who may not have been able to publicly acknowledge nor remember their loved one and how they died in a way that honoured them.
