UnitingWomen 2016 launched

At the June Presbytery and Synod meeting, Uniting Church SA Moderator Dr Deidre Palmer officially launched the 2016 UnitingWomen conference, announcing opening speaker Khadija Gbla.

Khadija is widely recognised for her ability to influence community change and raise awareness, particularly around multicultural and gender issues. Khadija is a gifted speaker who delivered a powerfulTED Talk addressing female genital mutilation in 2013.

Khadija shares what she will present on the conference theme, “Sharing Stories of Hope”:

“My message will be focussed entirely on the hope of God. My speaking will explore how Christ has put hope in my life and how Christ can act in the lives of other women.

“As women, we are all the same. We all have ups and downs, we all have stories. We struggle to be good friends, good wives, good partners, good mothers, good people.

“We all fall short, but we show up and we make time for God. God’s love and grace allows women to be who they are, our real authentic selves. Hearing testimonials from other women shares the gifts and the love that God has shown in our lives.”

UnitingWomen 2016 is a nationwide movement of faithful Christian women who will gather to share the ways Christ is inspiring hope in their lives and communities.

The UnitingWomen conference will open on Thursday 28 April at 6pm and will close on Sunday 1 May at 12 noon. UnitingWomen will be hosted by Wesley Kent Town Uniting Church (27 Grenfell street, Kent Town) with workshops occurring at Prince Alfred college (23 Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town, Adelaide).

The conference will cost $195, which includes attendance, workshop materials, supper, morning and afternoon tea. Delegates are responsible for organising their own accommodation and meals. Registrations are now open here: http://unitingwomen.org.au/register/
