June is the month for the Uniting Church Fellowship and Mission Support (UCFAMS) packing day, when cartons of clothing, shoes, manchester, stationery, toiletries and kitchenware are sent to predominately indigenous communities in Central, North and Western Australia, including Torres Strait island communities.

Coordinators Nancy and Peter Cranwell from Blackwood Uniting Church contact communities each year to ask if they would like any boxes and to indicate their needs. Recently the UCFAMS Together Day covered the front of Burnside City Church with beanies, blankets, and basic bathroom toiletries, many of which will be packed to go to these communities.

Goods are collected at Athelstone, Balhannah and Marion Uniting churches and then packed in the week of June 5th - 8th. Summer and tropical collections are focussed at Athelstone and Marion churches and inland winter collections are focussed at Marion and Balhanna churches.

Volunteers are always needed at each site on packing days.
