Synod Strategy and Planning Mission and Property Update

The Synod Strategy and Planning – Mission and Property working group has been working on the next steps in the project requested by the meeting of the Synod in June 2022 in relation to developing a draft property strategy to take to the next meeting of the Synod in June 2023.

One of the steps in the process is gathering data and information about our congregations.

To help us gather this data, a questionnaire is being sent to each congregation this week.

This questionnaire is intended to be only one part of the development of a broad Strategic Mission and Property Plan. The Synod is undertaking this in partnership with the Presbyteries and we are building on the information gathered by the comprehensive property review project that was conducted in 2018 – 2021. Some of the questions are general questions about your congregation others will relate to the worship, witness and service of your congregation.

This questionnaire will help provide an indicator of missional viability. Hopefully answering these questions will lead to reflection on your mission and ministry. We encourage conversations at Church Council, with your Congregation and with your Presbytery.

The questionnaire is being sent to Church Council Chairpersons, Secretaries and Ministers in congregations, but please ensure only one questionnaire is completed for your congregation.
