Reflection of the Week - 3rd December 2024
Most of us consider waiting as something very passive, a hopeless state determined by events totally out of our hands. The bus is late?

Left to Right: Mitcham Lifestyle Assistant Rachael Trembath with Molly from Catherine House
Aged between 73 and 96, members of Resthaven Mitcham’s ‘Knit & Natter’ and ‘Hobbies & Craft’ groups have been working together to support others in need. Combining their knitting and craft skills, the group members have made 12 blankets. The residents each knitted squares, which were then joined together to make the blankets. The blankets were donated to Catherine House, a charity that provides accommodation and support services for women who are experiencing homelessness in South Australia. Through a recovery-oriented focus, Catherine House offers women a safe, supportive environment with opportunities to achieve improved personal and economic well-being.
‘I am so proud of the work our residents have done, with the aim of helping others,’ Sylvia Ortiz, Lifestyle Coordinator at Resthaven Mitcham, says.
‘Catherine House is very appreciative of the donation and remarked on how beautifully made the blankets are.’
Catherine House will give most of the blankets to women as they move into more secure housing, while others will be auctioned off to raise additional funds.
‘The residents of Resthaven Mitcham are very happy to know that their blankets are going to a good cause and will help those in need,’ Sylvia says.
Thank you to the ladies of Resthaven Mitcham for their thoughtful, kind donation.

“I was genuinely surprised at the joy of making and strengthening connections with the lovely people of Iksan and Seoul. God’s love was most definitely present throughout this trip.” - Megan 2024
