Reflection of the Week - 7 April 2020

Posted in Faith

How many times is our whole mind consumed with worry over something?

It seems to draw us down into an abyss that is such hard a place to climb out from.

It affects every part of our day and night and so often the worries are about things that have not yet happened.

Jesus told the disciples in Luke's Gospel chapter 12, verses 22 and 23 that we worry needlessly about many aspects of our lives.

Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,

what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.

Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.

We need to take stock of ourselves and see if our lives are reflecting God's glory

or if they are merely images, dulled by worry and anxiety.

Help me to assess each problem that I encounter so that I

may lessen the burden of worry.

Clear my mind of needless worries and anxieties.

Allow me to think clearly so that I can see through my fears.

I want to anticipate the good that is going to happen and accentuate

the positive parts of my life

Amen

Compassionate and Understanding God,

Assist me to hand over all my worries and anxieties to You,

knowing that You listen and that You care

Help me take each moment as it comes and to not worry about what may happen,

but revel and enjoy each moment as it occurs.

Thank You that You never tire of taking my worries and my anxieties

giving me the peace and the strength to deal with them.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?

Reflection of the Week - 23rd April 2024

While I claim no expert knowledge when it comes to sheep, I did find myself relating to Jesus in his role as the Good Shepherd in today's gospel (21st April).
