Reflection of the Week - 6 March 2019

My Lenten journey continues as I take my instructions from the Word of God.

'If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.' Mark 8: 34.

I seem to be going through the motions, keeping Lent by denying myself of little pleasures and favourite indulgences. Going without one caffeine hit is hardly sacrificial. I can barely resist my mid-morning nibbles, but it's not enough. If I am to follow the instruction of Jesus, this four-week journey requires my serious attention to self-denial.

Thank You Lord, for giving Your all for me, at the end of Your own journey, that was just the beginning. With or without the chocolate bar, I will practice my Lenten discipline with the giving of myself in some costly service to another.
