Reflection of the Week - 27 July 2021

King David pursued the presence of God throughout his time as King. In 1 Chronicles 15-17 we read of how David led the Israelite people in fervent pursuit after God, and celebrating when the physical symbol of his presence (The Ark of the Covenant) returned to its people.

However, we know the manifest presence of God is no longer found in a place but a people. In Acts 2 we read of the almighty reality of Pentecost, that God is no longer with us but (if you are a follower of Christ) His spirit is now in us! Therefore the presence of God is no longer a moment but a practice. It is no longer a gathering or a place, but a reality we walk with. We don’t just believe in God with us, but God in us by the power of his Holy Spirit.

Henri Nouwen once said:

The central question is, ‘Are the leaders of the future truly men and women of God, people with an ardent desire to dwell in God's presence, to listen to God's voice, to look at God's beauty, to touch God's incarnate Word and to taste fully God's infinite goodness?’

Take a moment, breathe today, and ask Him, ‘God, make me more aware of your presence today’ - that we may be a people who know the presence and promise of God.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?
