Reflection of the Week - 22 May 2019

I rely on the subtext to understand, as well as to see a foreign language film.
How might I translate the message of God's mighty deeds today,

in the language of this generation?

On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit.

It was the Spirit which enabled them to speak in other languages.
The pilgrims from many lands were amazed.
'All of us heard them speaking in our own language,
of the great things that God has done.'
Acts 2: 11b.

There is no need for great linguistic skill to convey the message of God's mighty acts.
Love, the universal language, vaults the barriers of misunderstanding and mistrust.

Holy Spirit of God, let me listen, not just with my ears, but with my heart.
Fill my mouth with loving words that need no interpretation.
