Reflection of the Week - 20 March 2019

Posted in Faith

To nurture the gift of a child is to be given a small seed, that is full of potential and possibility, and, with the right conditions, may become a beautiful expression of God in the world. Fortunately this isn't all up to the parent!

"How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings." (The words of Jesus in Matthew 23:37). There is One who shares our longing, who seeks to nurture and protect all who are willing. We are not alone in our parenting.

Jesus, friend and saviour, you long to gather all children and parents, and all the peoples of this earth, into your care and protection. Bless the parenting that I share with you. And help me to place my children under your wings.

Jesus, you gather us to you, like a mother hen with her chicks; even as I parent my kids, help me to let myself be cared for by you. Amen.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?
