Reflection of the Week - 2 March 2021

Posted in Faith

In keeping with the recent National Day of Prayer which was held on 27th February and the World Day of Prayer which will be held this Friday 5th March it is timely to reflect on the power of prayer.

When we pray God places strength under our prayers to support us. As we begin to speak to God, the Spirit immediately goes to work searching for the depths of what we need. We may not know what to say or what to pray, but we know we need help, spiritual help. We can pray with silence or tears and trust that the Spirit is praying with an even greater compassion.

So pray this scripture, and let it strengthen your soul today.

‘Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.’

Romans 8:26-28

While I claim no expert knowledge when it comes to sheep, I did find myself relating to Jesus in his role as the Good Shepherd in today's gospel (21st April).
