Reflection of the Week - 17 April 2019

Posted in Faith

I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death. Psalm 88:3

This is the week that Jesus died. And with it, the disciple's hopes that he was the Messiah.

This week we suffer the loss of the light, the life.

We rage, rage against the dying of the light.

From triumphal entry to Gethsemane, to Pilate, to the Cross. We journey through the darkness in trust with Jesus ben Joseph.

We too know what it is to feel disappointed, distraught – devastated. We know how it feels to be bereft.

How do we rage, rage against the dying of the light when the light is dead?

You threw yourself upon death's blade for us. We helpless, darkened beings are somehow caught up into the journey with you now.

With you, we rage, rage against the dying of the light.

We remember. We rage.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Reflection of the Week - 23rd April 2024

While I claim no expert knowledge when it comes to sheep, I did find myself relating to Jesus in his role as the Good Shepherd in today's gospel (21st April).
