Reflection of the Week - 12 June 2019

Our population is becoming older and more and more elderly people are finding it harder to volunteer their services.

Pressures of work and family mean that too few young people are able to take their place.

Where will that leave the hungry, the marginalised and the infirm, and so many others who rely on volunteers?

Mark 12:31 (New International Version)

The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

There is no commandment greater than these.

 

If we live by this commandment then it is easy to identify those in need

and be willing to give freely of our time and our talents.

Gracious and Loving God

 

Thank you for the many volunteers around the world, both young and old,

who see a need and willingly give of their time and their talents.

 

Help me to set aside the time to volunteer in any capacity to enable me to help

where I am most needed.

 

Amen

I need to prioritise my time and find some hours in my week

to help an organisation or a person near to me.

 

I will open my eyes and my heart so that I can

Identify those who are hurting.

 

I will reflect the face of God in all I do.
