Reflection of the week

The stems of the rose bushes are depleted; they await the cauterising saw of the gardener, who will surgically remove the dead wood. A sprinkle of fertiliser, and the bushes will be nourished while they rest in the winter months. New growth is but a season away.

“I am the True Vine, and Father is the gardener. He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit; he prunes it to make it bear more fruit.” – John 15:1-2

O Divine Gardener, I confess that my life needs some severe pruning.  Other distractions coax me away from my true calling as your follower. With your help, I can discern what needs to change, in order to be more fruitful. Amen.
