The Uniting Church is comprised of a number of inter conciliar councils. A core value of the Uniting Church is ‘every member ministry.’ Currently expressions of interest are sought from members of the Uniting Church in South Australia with professional experience and skills in the following areas to serve on the Synod Standing Committee, Resources Board or Property Committee.

A Financial Management specialist who:

  • Holds professional qualifications and has worked extensively in Financial Management across medium to large organisations
  • Has experience in interpreting key financial data
  • Has advanced knowledge of accounting processes and standards.

A Legal Specialist who:

  • Is a member of the Law Society or similar body
  • Holds professional qualifications in Law and has practised law exclusively or has provided legal advice in a medium to large organisation for 7 years or more
  • Preferably has attained the level of Senior Associate or the equivalent in a legal firm
  • Has experience with the provision of legal advice and/or advanced knowledge of legislation and common law.

A Property specialist who:

  • Has qualifications in a property related discipline and advanced knowledge of building, planning and development standards and practices
  • Has experience with preparing and analysing strategic reports in relation to property and property-related matters
  • Has worked extensively in property across medium to large organisations.

The Synod Standing Committee is empowered to act on behalf of the Synod between meetings of the Synod.  The Synod Standing Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday afternoons approximately six times during 2024 at the Synod office.

The Resources Board mandate is to serve the Church by maximising financial and property resources available to the Synod and Presbyteries for mission, and to assist the Synod and Presbyteries in allocating such resources efficiently in accordance with the mission priorities and ethos of the Church, whilst managing the risk associated with these decisions. The Resources Board meets approximately six times a year on a Thursday evening at the Synod office.

These are voluntary positions. Members of the Synod Standing Committee, Resources Board and Property Committee have an active Christian faith and a commitment to the ethos of the Uniting Church and its mission in South Australia.

If you have skills and experience in these areas, or know someone in your congregation or presbytery who does, and/or would like more information,  please contact:

Reflection of the Week - 01 July 2025

Paul tries to create some “audiovisual aids” for this big message, which he calls “churches” (a term Jesus used only twice, found in Matthew 16:18 and 18:17). Paul knows we need living, visible models of this new kind of life to make evident that Christ’s people really follow a way different from mass consciousness.
