Are you interested in history?

The Presbytery and Synod is seeking an archivist. Jim Everett, who has served in this capacity for a number of years, has indicated his intention to retire as Synod archivist.

The archivist works in collaboration with the Historical Society. Any travel and other related costs can be reimbursed by the Synod.

Stop the Traffik – Fair Trade Easter campaign

The Uniting Church SA has been an active supporter of the Stop the Traffik and Fair Trade campaigns to ensure that the products we buy are not based on labour exploitation (including exploitation of children).  This year, in partnership with Uniting Church Synod of Vic/Tas, Stop the Traffik has produced an excellent Easter information pamphlet and guide. Stop the Traffik has more resources for a #traffikfreeEaster on their website, including school resources. Congregations and faith communities can also order cards and posters to deliver to stores.

Cyclone Winston Aftermath

Our friends in Fiji are suffering widespread destruction in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Winston, which hit on Saturday 20 February. Cyclone Winston, the strongest storm ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere, flattened entire villages with torrential rain, winds over 300 km an hour, and storm surges. More than 40 people were killed and thousands of homes, building and properties destroyed and damaged.

Thanks to generous gifts to the Fiji Emergency Appeal, UnitingWorld were able to respond quickly to this disaster, assisting their partners to work alongside the Fiji government and provide humanitarian relief to thousands of people throughout affected communities.

Longer term, funds raised through the appeal will be used to rebuild schools and church and community buildings – using a “build back better” approach to ensure the safety of people in the future.

To support this work, please contact UnitingWorld on 1800 998 122 or click here to donate. Cheques may also be sent to UnitingWorld, PO Box A2266, Sydney South NSW 1235.
