Below are the news and notices from congregations, the SA Synod and the wider Uniting Church submitted for the Wednesday 16 March edition of UC e-News. Please note that events are listed separately here.

------------------------------------------

From Uniting Young People to the Intergenerational Team

The Uniting Young People team within Mission Resourcing have recently been renamed – they are now the Intergenerational Team. As part of this change, the team will generate a new quarterly newsletter featuring intergenerational resources, information and more. They will also be sharing this information through UC e-News and New Times online – as articles, events, and items within the weekly news and notices. As a result, the children’s ministry newsletter (What’s UP) and youth & young adults newsletter (Youth & Young Adults news) will no longer be sent. People on these mailing lists have been recently advised. If you have any queries, please contact the Intergenerational Team at Turn on Javascript! or Turn on Javascript!

Ministry centre name change

The UnitingCare SA team, the Communications team, Secretariat and the Moderator’s office have joined together under a new name – Governance, Innovation and Communications. The ministry centres and teams within this newly formed ministry centre will still complete similar functions, but with a new name and closer synergies.

Remind, Refresh, Resource

There will be three opportunities for congregations from South Australia to participate in Remind, Refresh, Resource resourcing sessions, which are being coordinated by Mission resourcing in conjunction with various congregations.

The first session will be held at Rosefield Uniting Church from 13-15 May – more information is available here.

The second will be held at Lock Uniting Church on Saturday 21 May and the final session will be at a regional location (to be determined) on Saturday 28 May.

Lent Event donations

UnitingWorld

Lent will soon be coming to a close, and UnitingWorld would like to thank those who have stood in solidarity with people whose lives are bound by poverty.

It’s time now to get Lent Event donations in and sent on their way to our overseas partners. Please donate directly to UntingWorld – this will save your Lent Event Coordinator valuable time in collecting and banking donations. You can make a secure donation online, via the Lent Event App, or by posting a cheque to UnitingWorld (PO Box A2266, Sydney South, NSW 1235). Tax receipts will then be issued.

Celebrate UN World Water Day – Tuesday 22 March

Transforming Justice & the Environment Action Group

The Uniting Church SA Environment Action Group has prepared a fact sheet for the UN World Water Day (22 March). According to Pope Francis, “the future of humanity depends on our ability to safeguard and share clean water.” The UN says, “water is essential to human survival, the environment, and the global economy.” The Environment Action Group would like to encourage you to be creative in drawing your congregation’s attention to World Water Day this year.

Lay Preachers' Sunday

Lay Preachers’ Committee

The first Sunday in August each year is celebrated as Lay Preachers' Sunday. A liturgy for use on that day this year is now available here. We encourage every congregation to celebrate this occasion on Sunday 7 August or another date close to this time. An updated version of the Lay Preachers' Handbook is also available here.
