News & notices – 11 May 2016

Below are the news and notices from congregations, the SA Synod and the wider Uniting Church submitted for the Wednesday 11 May edition of UC e-News. Please note that events are listed separately here.

Pilgrimage of Healing

Each year during Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June annually), the Pilgrimage of Healing raises funds for a particular Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) project.

A poster for the Pilgrimage of Healing is now available to download here. Please feel free to share this with your community.

This year, proceeds will go towards the UAICC’s vision for developing a regional, ecumenical faith community based in the old Tailem Bend Uniting Church building. The building requires a number of urgent, critical repairs to ensure it’s a suitable and safe space. Members of the Uniting Church SA are encouraged to prayerfully consider donating to this cause.

For more information about the Pilgrimage of Healing, please contact Congress Resource Officer Ian Dempster on 0417 217 320 or email Turn on Javascript!

National Church Life Survey (NCLS) 2016

The Standing Committee requests all congregations participate in NCLS 2016.

The Presbytery & Synod will cover the $250 registration for each congregation. This means some congregations will be automatically grouped for the purposes of the survey.

Congregations will pay the $1.50 per survey form processed. Orders are now being taken for survey forms.

During 2017, as findings are available, the Director of Missiology, Rev Christie Capper and Mission Resourcing Executive Officer, Rev Dr Amelia Koh-Butler will assist leaders and congregations to make the most of the information.

There is an incurred cost of $70 for access individual congregations. Those congregations wishing to access expanded results will need to pay this amount.

Pioneer leadership gathering

Are you leading a Fresh Expression of church reaching those who are not in church? Would you like to be able to chat to leaders from all over Australia who think the same as you? A National Pioneer leadership gathering will be held at Adelaide Shores Resort from Thursday 26 - Saturday 28 May. A few places are still available. For more information, please contact Rev Ruthmary Bond via email at Turn on Javascript!

A Pre-election Q&A will be held on Tuesday 31 May from 7.30pm with candidates for the Federal seat of Adelaide and the Senate. The Q&A will be chaired by Moderator Dr Deidre Palmer. West Papua Support Group discussion & lunch

The West Papua Support Group invites you to attend a gathering to discuss the future of the Uniting Church SA's 15-year partnership and enjoy a cultural experience. The event will be held at Blackwood Uniting Church on Sunday 22 May, 12.30-3pm.
