Congregations from Adelaide are invited to gather for three days of resourcing at Rosefield Uniting Church. This event is hosted jointly between the Presbytery and Synod of SA and Rosefield Uniting Church from Friday 13 May to Sunday 15 May. Keynote speakers include Rev Dr Sunny Chen and Craig Bailey. The Rosefield teaching weekend is the first of three Remind, Refresh, Resource events to be held in South Australia. Download the flyer for more information here.

 

Potential delays in Police Check results – Screening Unit

The Uniting Church SA Screening Services Unit are currently experiencing delays in receiving check results back from the checking agency used. This is the result of delays in two of the police agencies that feed in to the process. Please bear this in mind when submitting your applications. A further update is expected on Monday 21 March, 2016.  Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

 

Harmony Day

Harmony Day (Monday 21 March) is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.

St Andrews’ by the Sea Uniting Church (92 Jetty Road, Glenelg) is celebrating by hosting a variety show on Sunday 20 March at 2pm featuring music, dance and crafts from different cultural groups. Entry is by gold coin donation and proceeds will benefit Community Aid, which provides practical assistance to refugees, new migrants and disadvantaged folk in the local community. Reigniting community

You are invited to join a short term project with Kensington Gardens Uniting Church as they establish a community centre and faith community at Brigalow Avenue, Kensington Gardens. In developing this project, organisers are looking at ways volunteers with church and non-church backgrounds can contribute to a sense of community. Stop the Traffik – Fair Trade Campaign

The Uniting Church SA has been an active supporter of the Stop the Traffik and Fair Trade Campaigns to ensure that the products we buy are not based on labour exploitation (including children).  This year in partnership with Uniting Church Synod of Vic/Tas, Stop the Traffik has produced an excellent information pamphlet and guide. Stop the Traffik has more resources for a #traffikfreeEaster on their website, including school resources. Congregations and faith communities can also order cards and posters to deliver to stores.

 

State Mission Fellowship – March 22, 2016

You are welcome to join the State Mission Fellowship on Tuesday 22 March at Scots Church Adelaide (corner North Terrace and Pulteney Streets, Adelaide) to hear from speaker Wendy Perkins, the Disaster and Recovery Ministries Coordinator with the Uniting Church SA. Morning tea at 10am, meeting at 10.30am, followed by lunch ($5). Everyone is welcome to join the fellowship for great speakers and warm company. Enquiries to 8522 6188.

 

Art exhibition Yvonne Ashby

You are invited to view “Journeys”, a showing of works by Yvonne Ashby, the Artist in Residence at the Adelaide College of Divinity, to be held in the Adelaide Theological Library (34 Lipsett Terrace, Brooklyn Park) from 16-24 March (launch on Thursday 17 March). Friendship Club upcoming event

The next meeting of the Western Link Uniting Church Friendship Club will be held at 93 Crittenden Road, Findon on Thursday 17 March at 1.30pm when "The Balladeers" will entertain. It's St Patrick's Day so come along in something green and they'll sing some Irish tunes! A $4 donation includes afternoon tea. Everyone welcome. Enquiries to the Church Office on 8445 2332.

 

Australian Faith Community Nurses Association (AFCNA) Conference

In their 20th year the AFCNA Board is partnering with Baptist Care SA to host a celebration conference and retreat from Monday 2 May– Wednesday 4 May, 2016.
