Synod Expos Update

This Thursday, 26th August, Rev Ruth Mary Bond will interview Rev Canon Dave Male online and questions will be posed by guest panellists. The theme of the expos is ‘Chasing the Wind of the Spirit.’ With many congregations struggling to find a way forward for their ministry and in their communities at this time. If God is already there in their community, how can they make the most of the opportunities being presented to them? How might God be preparing us for a future we haven’t as yet imagined?

If you would like to submit a question to the panel please email the details to Mission Resourcing at Turn on Javascript!.

Red Dove Cafe

Due to the cancellation of the Royal Adelaide Show there will be no Red Dove Café this year for the second year in a row. This means that fundraising in the vicinity of $90,000 over the past two years for mission within the Synod of SA, has not been possible. This vital ministry of the church has, in the past supported Uniting Church chaplains working in the areas of mental health, disability and prisons, as well as supporting UnitingCare agencies, the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, Uniting College for Theology and Leadership, Experience Café, migrant and refugee ministries, as well as Frontier Services.

This year, the Uniting Church Fellowship and Mission Support Committee invites congregations to hold a Red Dove Sunday on 5th and 12th September 2021 as a fundraiser for this on-going work. Congregations could have a special morning tea, retiring offering or simply make a donation. For more information please contact Janet Woodward, UC Fellowship and Mission Support (UCFAMS) 0432271757.

NCLS 2021!

The National Church Life Survey (NCLS) is a survey of churches and congregations across Australia, across denominations, which provides a snapshot of the state of the Australian church at a moment in time. With the changes in our world, nation and church, all presbyteries and the Synod believe that this survey will provide crucial information to better serve, support and renew the church for the future. The presbyteries have agreed with the Synod of South Australia to fund two parts of the census: the church census (one form per congregation) and the Leadership Survey (as many forms as you have ordained and/or lay leaders). The usual detailed forms are available to your congregation at your own cost. Go to ncls.org.au or contact Mission Resourcing at Turn on Javascript! or phone us 82364200.
