Prayer Points for the week

  • Our First Peoples who, after 12 years of Closing the Gap, are still not afforded the basic dignity and opportunity to thrive as other Australians.
  • All those still threatened by the global coronavirus outbreak.
  • Give thanks for our church partners around the world - for their prayers, support and compassion throughout our recent bushfire crisis.

In memoriam: Rev Graham Hunt

We mourn the death of Rev Graham Hunt on 12 February 2020. Graham was born on 23 January 1952. Although he had a short time in ordained ministry in the Lower Murray Parish from 1993, he had a significant lay ministry in many areas, including as a Safe Church trainer. After his retirement Graham concentrated on writing and theological reflection.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Church of the Trinity (318 Goodwood Rd, Clarence Park) this Thursday 20 February at 11:00 am. Graham expressed a desire for everyone attending to wear odd socks and/or something with a teddy bear theme.

2020 Easter Campaign: Get your postcards and more now

The Easter campaign will work slightly differently this year. While we will still provide themed postcards, posters and PowerPoint slides, the campaign will also feature a suite of other resources which congregations can use for free to promote their Easter events. These resources are specifically designed so that congregations can amend, print and promote their events themselves.

Share your story about “Enduring Hope” by posting your message on social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) using the hashtag #EnduringHope. Let us know that you have posted by tagging us @UnitingChurchinSouthAustralia.

There are two ways to make the best use of the Easter campaign materials:

 Option 1 (Do it yourself)

 Option 2 (Assisted)

  • We provide files on our website that you can download for free and edit yourself
  • You organise your own printing and delivery
  • No charges apply from Synod.
  • Here’s the link to the website from which you can download the free, editable files: https://sa.uca.org.au/easter-2020/

HAVE FUN!

  • We assist you with editing the files according to your congregation’s needs
  • We organise the printing and delivery for you
  • Printing and editing fees will apply.
  • Contact us for assistance before Friday 27 March. Call the Synod Communications and Events team on 08 8236 4237 or email Turn on Javascript!.

Join the Bible Study watch party

Tomorrow (Wednesday 19 February) at 7:30pm a video of Craig Bailey’s Bible Study (from the November 2019 Synod meeting) along with others, can be viewed from the comfort of your own home/office.

The Facebook Watch Party will feature part two (of three) of Craig’s Bible Study and will allow those participating to post questions and comments which others can see and/or answer.

It’s a great opportunity to share the Bible Study with members of congregations (or family) who could not see it live at the Synod meeting.

If you would like to join the Watch Party, go to the Uniting Church in SA Facebook page and tune in! To set a reminder, scroll through the posts until you find the one for the Watch Party and click on the star.
