2022 Intercultural Neighbouring Sunday

At its 2022 meeting, SA Synod resolved to acknowledge the 16th Assembly resolution on “Moving forward in Being a Multicultural Church,” including adopting the 3rd Sunday in July as an ‘Intercultural Neighbouring Sunday’, to celebrate UCA being a Multicultural Church and to create an opportunity for congregations and faith communities to connect and build relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse communities in their neighbourhoods. Safe Church Update

It is 3 years since the changes to legislation required a change in the screenings types that ‘persons with roles of responsibilities within the church community’ are expected to have. Working with Children Checks are valid for 5 years – so any done post 1 July 2019 still have another couple of years before that needs to be renewed.  However the other screening types of General Probity and Vulnerable Persons are valid for 3 years.  Renewals can only be commenced of a previous screening no more than 6 months prior to the “expiry” date.

Thank you to those who are diligently seeking renewals for these screenings.  Reminders will be sent to the contact details given by individuals at the initial check request.

Food for the Soul

A SALA Exhibition at the Red Dove Cafe ...

Uniting Church Fellowship and Mission Support (UCFAMS), Red Dove Cafe and the Centre for Music, Liturgy and the Arts (CMLA) are pleased to bring you the 'Food for the Soul Exhibition.' The cafe walls are usually bare except for a large menu board and a few show photos. The aim of this exhibition is to beautify the cafe space and in doing so engage with patrons in ways that describe and promote the resilience of rural people and their lifestyle, and also that embodies spiritual hope to bring wellness and peace to all.

UCFAMS seeks art-works to place on the walls that may be a point of conversation and a ministry to patrons. More information and how to submit art-works can be found here.

Climate Report: ‘They Shall Inherit the Earth’

A new Climate Report entitled They Shall Inherit the Earth for a new conversation about climate change in Christian communities is available now.

An essential report for all those involved in Church leadership, this study and its findings show:

  • How Christians aged 18-40 years are engaging with climate change
  • What they think about the role of the Church in taking action
  • The attitudes and practices of church leaders towards this issue
  • How we can take steps to heal division and, together, bring a voice of hope.

2022 Uniting Foundation Grant Round Opens

Congregations, Faith Communities and individuals are invited to apply for funding to assist with missional projects which will build vibrant church communities leading the Church into the future.

The projects need to be able to demonstrate how the missional effectiveness of the applying body will be enhanced. The amount of available funds impacts the Committee’s ability to fund projects. Accordingly, applications need to meet the established criteria. The applying body’s Mission and Service Fund contribution status is also considered when assessing applications.

Property upgrade and maintenance are not eligible for Uniting Foundation funding. An applicant cannot have more than one concurrent active grant.

Please note. Applications close 30th July 2022.

Application forms, eligibility criteria and other related information can be located at

https://sa.uca.org.au/uniting-foundation/applying-for-a-grant

Additional information is available by contacting Malcolm Wilson, Uniting Foundation Manager, Email: Turn on Javascript! and phone: 0414 520 140.
