Ordination of Jesse Size

Jesse Size will be ordained on Saturday 12 May at Port Augusta Uniting Church at 2pm. Entertainment will be provided by Dusty Feet Mob.

Seeds of Hope in Troubled Times: open conversations and retreats

Stillpoint Spirituality and Loyola Ignatian Spirituality will present two retreats and open conversations featuring Margaret Silf. The first retreat will occur at Nunyara on 27-29 April 2018. The second retreat will occur at Sevenhill from 30 April - 2 May, 2018. Download the flyer for more information and registration details.

 

Pulpit and folders to give away

The Vines Uniting Church has a classic dark timber pulpit to give away, including matching stands (one of which is a baptismal). Free delivery is available in the metro area. For more information, please contact Bill on 0401 087 718.

Brian Ward has 44 folders to give away – they are blue, A4, two-ring, 20mm binders. They were used by a choir but are no longer required. Take a few folders or take them all! For more information, please contact Brian on 8337 9081.

 

Ageing and Wellness Grants due date changed

Due to unforseen circumstances, the Ageing and Wellness Grants Committee will be meeting the last week in March, rather than the first week in April. Induction service for Rev Sunil “Sunny” Kapandarabil

Rev Sunil “Sunny” Kapandarabil will be inducted into the Parkin-Sturt Patrol at 7pm on Friday 9 March at Quorn Uniting Church. All are welcome to attend this special service and the light supper that will follow. Please bring finger food to share, if possible.

 

Disaster & Recovery Ministries SA training opportunity

Disaster and Recovery Ministries chaplains provide pastoral and spiritual care for communities who are recovering from disasters, particularly natural disasters such as bushfires.

Disaster and Recovery Ministries encourage those who feel called to chaplaincy in this area to prayerfully consider attending the next two-day training session, which will be held on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 March, from 9.30am-4.30pm each day.

Adelaide Palm Sunday Rally – Walk for Justice for Refugees

At 2pm on Palm Sunday (25 March), Justice for Refugees SA and Amnesty International Australia will hold the annual Walk for Justice for Refugees rally. This event is promoted by the South Australian Council of Churches and a number of Uniting Church congregations are involved. The rally will provide an opportunity to show support for refugees in off-shore detention. The themes of the rally are peace, welcome and permanent protection.

This year, Justice for Refugees SA is inviting choirs and singers to participate in the rally along with Rise Up Singing. Individuals and full choirs are welcome. The music is available online here; a rehearsal will be held prior to the rally from 12-1.30pm at a venue to be advised.

National Mission Pioneer Gathering

A National Mission Pioneer Gathering will be held from 24-26 May at Maroochydore Waterfront Camp & Conference Centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Mission pioneers are people experimenting with different ways to be in mission and share the gospel, and who are birthing new forms of church for people who ‘don’t do church’. SA History Festival

South Australia’s History Festival will be held throughout May 2018. The Uniting Church SA Historical Society will host an event on Sunday 29 April, 2.30-4pm, as part of the “Open Doors: Built Heritage Weekend”. This event will be held at Wesley Kent Town Uniting Church, hosted in conjunction with members of the Wesley congregation. It will include a tour of the building, information about the pipe organ and a talk from a local historian. Afternoon tea will be included. For more information, please email Turn on Javascript!.
