Kangaroo Island Disaster Recovery Update

As we approach the anniversary of the extinguishing of the disastrous bushfires on Kangaroo Island and after many delays, we are pleased to announce that Rev Mark Dickens will work with the Kangaroo Island community on behalf of the Uniting Church in a half-time capacity.

Mark has generously agreed to be seconded from part of his role as Chaplain at Prince Alfred College to take on this important work. Mark will be on Kangaroo Island approximately two weeks per month, primarily supporting those continuing to be impacted by the fires.

We are thankful for the support given by Prince Alfred College (PAC) to allow this arrangement to happen, and for The Vines congregation, who have released Rev David Prior to provide extra chaplaincy support to PAC in Mark’s absence.

Mark will commence on Kangaroo Island in early February.

The recovery of the community and infrastructure will be a long process and I invite you to pray for Mark and the people of Kangaroo Island as they continue rebuilding.
