Farewell to Dawn Garrett, Minister Care Advocate for Mercer

Posted in News

The Synod of South Australia bids farewell to Dawn Garrett, who has been our Minister Care Advocate with Mercer for the last 4 years. We wish Dawn well on her retirement.

Minister Care Advocates are the link between members, employers and the Trustee and offer support to ministers who are members of the UCA Beneficiary Fund, now managed by Mercer.

The Minster Care Advocates help with queries that can’t be answered by the Fund’s helpline. They attend member forums (i.e. Retired Ministers luncheons etc.) and are there to assist members as needed and to keep them up to date with any changes to the Fund or in the superannuation industry in general. They work with the Synod and small employers day to day issues.

Mercer Minister Care Advocates are available to assist employers with any day to day issues, such as contribution remittances, benefit payments, insurance claims etc. They are also available to attend Presbytery meetings and other employer events as required.

We welcome our new Minister Care Advocate, Chanuka Mallawaarachchi. Chanuka is the State Leader, Mercer Wealth South Australia and has overall responsibility across the Mercer Super Trust as well as Superannuation Services in SA. In his role, Chanuka is responsible for ensuring the delivery of superior retirement outcomes for members by ensuring the strategic delivery of holistic solutions for clients. Placing governance and risk management at the core of all operational functions, Chanuka is responsible for overall client satisfaction, whilst delivering on commercial business expectations.

Prior to joining Mercer, Chanuka led various leadership functions in banking as well as wealth management. Being passionate about community and volunteering actively, Chanuka is currently the state representative for ‘Mercer Cares’ driving colleague engagement in corporate volunteering across the business.

We look forward to working with Chanuka.
