Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today marks the second anniversary of the first recorded COVID-19 case in South Australia, and the time we started making adjustments in our lives in response to the impact of COVID on our world.

In that time, many have been impacted greatly, and numerous lives lost globally as communities have struggled to manage the epidemic. Our congregations and communities have adapted in new and innovative ways; providing worship, pastoral care, outreach and discipleship opportunities in ways we would not have thought possible.

The effects of the virus and its impacts on the ways in which we go about our daily activities are still causing disruptions for many. The on-going economic impact on individuals and communities, the level of exhaustion brought on, not just from catching COVID, but from the frequent adjustments in the ways we manage or lives and those we care for, can bring stress and distress.

As a Church we seek to pray for, and care for those in need, in whichever way possible. I urge you to remember those in leadership in your prayers, to seek ways to lessen the burden placed upon them, that they may know the concern and compassion of those around them. A number of leaders in our churches have been impacted personally by COVID and its effects, and at this time we especially remember Rev Felicity Amery, who has contracted COVID whilst in Darwin. We pray for her speedy and full recovery, and for those caring for and supporting her.

I thank you once again for your faithfulness and adaptability as Disciples of Christ. In your daily life may you find connections with God, our church and the wider community as you fulfil Christ’s calling.

Blessings.
