Awash with Prayer Campaign

Almighty God, Creator and sustainer of our world.

You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We thank you for hearing our prayers as we bring to you all those affected by the devastating floodwaters throughout the Riverland communities of South Australia.

We pray for those whose homes, businesses and livelihoods are being threatened or overwhelmed by rising water. We pray for safety for people, animals and properties, especially for those who have had to leave their homes.

Loving God, we pray for compassion for those who are grieving losses of any kind, and that caring people would come alongside them and bring comfort in their time of need.

Gracious God, thank you that we live in a country where governments and other people of goodwill are willing to provide resources and support to those whose circumstances are marked by loss and desperation. We pray that their efforts would be characterised by generosity, wisdom and compassion. Strengthen their hands and refresh them in body, mind and soul when they are weary. Likewise we pray for patience, courage and grace for the recipients of help.

God, you are the source of light and hope in our darkest places. And so we pray that you would shine light into the lives of those affected by this disaster. May they see a lifeline of hope in the care and generosity of all who seek to help.

During this Advent season may those without real peace find genuine hope in the good news of the birth of your Son Jesus and the possibilities of new life he brings to all of creation.

In his name we pray, Amen.
