Event details

Take part in the biggest ever faith climate day of action the world has ever seen: Sacred people, Sacred Earth.

Sound the alarm for the earth on 11 March 2021 to build on a Hopeful path towards 2040!

Faith communities across the world are involved in working together to take part in a multi-faith Sacred People Sacred Earth global day of action on the climate crisis at 11am Thursday 11 March 2021 (or a time convenient for your group / congregation / family / community), organised by a new grassroots Green Faith International Network from 14 countries. The Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) is coordinating the Australian response.

Are you and members of your faith community willing to participate? You can take some simple steps by:

1) Signing and encouraging others to sign the global Sacred People Sacred Earth Statement that will be delivered to COP26 in Glasgow in November and email to anyone you know to request more to sign: www.arrcc.org.au/global (opens in a new window)

2) Registering local action here www.arrcc.org.au/global (opens in a new window). 80+ Australian faith groups have already committed, with actions ranging from simply lighting a candle at home to shared meditations or services and 'sounding the alarm' with chanting, ringing bells or blowing horns.

3) Make our efforts resonate globally, please take a photo or a short video and share with hashtags #SacredPeopleSacredEarth and #Faiths4Climate. You can also make a sign or banner highlighting one of the ten climate demands outlined here, noting Australia's particular 'key asks' www.arrcc.org.au/global (opens in a new window)

4) Contact your local media (newspaper, radio, chat show, parish newsletter, pew sheet etc. and aim to get a story published about your local community action as part of this global day of action led by faith groups across 14 countries (Greenfaith International Network).
