Event details

Join Arts by the Sea (St Andrews by the Sea Uniting Church) on this special guided tour of the Himeji Garden, established in 1985 to celebrate the bond with Adelaide's sister city in Japan. Alongside his Aussie wife Gail, Munetaka Umehara, a retired educator from TAFE SA will share his unique knowledge of Japanese history and culture that have shaped the art of garden design since ancient times. Immerse yourself in the tranquil surrounds and enjoy a soothing cup of sencha at the tea house as you gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Adelaide's living artwork hidden away on the fringe of the busy CBD.

To help you capture visual souvenirs of your visit and enhance your time here, Japanese pop culture enthusiast and professional photographer Alison Briggs will dispense expert tips for getting the best shots with whatever equipment you have.

Bookings essential as group size limited to 25. For safety reasons, young people aged under 16 must be supervised by a paying adult. This event is not suitable for children under 6.
