Event details

In response to popular demand, Arts by the Sea will be expanding our school holiday activities program to include a unique performance art from Japan: KAMISHIBAI ('paper theatre').

With the help of folk art expert Munetaka Umehara, formerly of TAFE SA, kids will learn about this ancient artform, craft their own kamishibai set and put together a kamishibai performance in English.

For only $30pp this 3hr workshop has something for everyone: whether your child loves to take centre stage and tell a story, or has a gift for drawing and painting, or likes to make music and sound effects. Creative skills of all kinds come together in this wholesome traditional entertainment style, which is making a comeback in its homeland after being pushed to near-extinction by TV and videogames.

Places are limited to 15 kids only. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to broaden cultural horizons and discover a new way to express your creativity. Book today with Arts by the Sea to avoid disappointment.
