Uniting Venues SA has reopened!

Posted in Uniting Venues

Like a lot of Uniting Church congregations and agencies, Uniting Venues SA (UVSA) was recently forced to cease operations due to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was not an easy time for our staff, our guests or the rest of the community.

Now that we are in Phase 3 of the ‘Roadmap to Recovery’, our doors have reopened and it is wonderful to be hosting guests again. Praise the Lord!

The forced closure did present an opportunity for the team members to attend to some long overdue maintenance. The team at Adare spent several weeks repainting the inside of Adare House and improved the food service counter. The Nunyara maintenance team used the time to improve the waste collection point whilst staff at Tarooki and Thuruna spring-cleaned their venues. All venues are now looking fresh and ready to greet our guests once more.

As well as attending to maintenance, UVSA assisted other ministry centres and organisations. We were able to assist the Mount Barker Uniting Church Emergency Support Centre and two other teams within the Resources Department. Working in collaboration is very beneficial and to do so during a pandemic is a whole other level of ‘in it together.’

We are grateful to be open again, but mindful that many other Christian camp-sites around the country are currently closed. Our prayer is that the Lord will sustain them during this period and that their doors too will reopen in the very near future.
