Reflection of the week

How I admire Paralympians who have trained so very hard, and are justly rewarded with praise or medals as a result.

Thinking on this leads me to wonder what I expect as a result of my service to Christ through service to others.

Jesus replied to this very question with the words: “we have only done what we ought to have done” (Luke 17:10).

I find my motivation not in the thought of a reward, but in the memory of what God has done for me by forgiving me. God does not owe me. I owe God, and gratitude ought to be at the heart of my discipleship.

Prayer

Servant Lord, you have given freely of yourself to those like me, who have done nothing to deserve it. I answer your call to return the favour to those I meet in my daily life. Amen.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?
