Reflection of the week

“What shall we call him?” I can imagine Mary asking Joseph. No ultrasound, but a messenger from God, to tell them that the baby would be a boy.

My family tree records the repetition of certain names down through many generations. Mary and Joseph could have chosen a name for the Christ child in the same way, according to tradition. Instead, they were instructed to call him Jesus because “he would save people from their sins”. And then another given name, to reflect his true nature, “Emmanuel, God with us” (Matt.1:21; 23).

This Christmas I will remember that “reason for the season”.

Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, I praise and thank you that at all times, and in all places, you are with me and around me. I thank you that I am among those you came to save. Amen.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?
