2018 calendar orders

Orders for the 2018 Uniting Church SA calendar are still open. Online ordering is the preferred process this year – please click here to be taken to the online ordering page. Those unable to place an online order can contact the Communications team on 8236 4230 or email Turn on Javascript!

Orders close on Wednesday 8 November at 5pm.

 

Christmas service details

All congregations and faith communities are invited to share their Christmas service and event details on the Uniting Church SA website. Please list the service dates, times, locations and titles (e.g. Blue Christmas, Carols Service, etc.) and email them to the Communications team at Turn on Javascript!

 

Seeking op shop volunteers

Goodies 2U, the op shop based at Scots Church Adelaide, is seeking volunteers to assist with their day-to-day operations. Tuesdays and Thursdays, morning and afternoon shifts, are available.
Goodies 2U wishes to build a welcoming, inclusive environment for outreach in the op shop. All proceeds go towards community assistance. All volunteers are welcome, including those on work-for-the-dole programs. Training will be provided to all volunteers. For more information, please call Elferaan on 0420 844 771.

 

Australasian Messy Church Conference

"Being Messy, Being Church" is the first ever Australasian Messy Church Conference! Held at the Centre for Theology and Ministry in Victoria from 16-18 February 2018, this conference will be a great opportunity for encouraging Messy Church leaders and teams. The event will feature input from Messy Church founder Lucy Moore and a host of brilliant New Zealand and Australian practitioners, as well as interactive learning and networking. Places are limited to the first 100 registrations. 

Early bird registrations ($160 per person) close on Tuesday 31 October. Registrations after this date will cost $185 per person. This cost covers meals, but does not include accommodation.

Ecumenical Lenten resource for 2018

The South Australian Council of Churches’ (SACC) 2018 ecumenical Lenten resource, “A Lenten Pilgrimage to the Heart”, is now available on the SACC website. This resource has been prepared by a team from the SACC’s Community for Ecumenical Learning.

 

Port Wakefield seeking memorabilia

Port Wakefield Uniting (Methodist) Church will celebrate its 150th Anniversary on Sunday 12 August, 2018. The organising committee is seeking old photos and memorabilia from people with past and present connections to the congregation. The congregation is planning to have a special display on the day, of weddings that have taken place in the Port Wakefield church and would like to hear from anyone with photos of weddings at the church.

Generating Intergenerational Worship Ideas resource

Wondering how to shape intergenerational worship? This is the resource for you!

It comprises tips and examples on creating intergenerational call to worship, music, prayer, Bible reading and take home ideas. Our hope is that people will embrace and apply intergenerational concepts in their worship services.

This resource is written in partnership across three Uniting Church Synods, including South Australia’s Intergenerational Team.

New resources from the Centre for Music, Liturgy and the Arts

The Centre for Music, Liturgy and the Arts has two new resources out now!

“How to Use Poetry in Worship” is for communities who want to incorporate poetry into worship, written by award-winning author and presenter Marianne Musgrove.

“Advent and Christmas Resources” are compiled from a broad network of worship leaders, songwriters, scriptwriters and poets for the festive season, including epiphany and New Year’s.

National Christ and Creation e-seminar

Theology lecturers from across Australia will contribute to a national Uniting Church e-seminar connecting Christ and creation. The e-seminar will run on Monday 20 November at 11am (11.30am AEDT) and will include input from lecturers, including South Australian Rev Dr Vicky Balabanski, as well as interactive workshops. Church members are invited to join a hub at their local Uniting Church theological college or to organise a hub in their area or church. People may also participate as individuals from home.
