KCO - Victor Harbor
KCO 2017 was held 25-26 March.
Venue: Adare Camp and Caravan Park
Theme: Big World
Big World, the Bible and us
There are big issues in our lives and around our world. Big wonderful things and big horrible things. God knows everything, loves us and promises to be with us in all things. God has a plan to make all things new – for us and the world. Jesus’ life, death and resurrection shows us the plan for new life and God’s love for us. Jesus now invites us to share this love as we care for others and the big world.
Moderator's Message about KCO 2017
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
I write to you exhausted but inspired by the recent KCO camp held at the Adare Camp and Conference Centre in Victor Harbor on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 March. We really felt the Holy Spirit move as the 465 children and 352 adults all gathered to celebrate this year’s theme, "Big World".
It was such a pleasure to be a part of this iconic camp, which has now been operating as part of the Uniting Church SA for 39 years. There were 30 groups in attendance with some travelling from as far away as Stokes Bay on Kangaroo Island and Port Pirie in the Mid North.
I'd like to thank all of the volunteers and leaders who so graciously gave their time and talents over the weekend and during the planning stages. Thanks also to the Standing Committee for their commitment to this event and their desire to 'make it happen', and to the Synod, KCO, Adare and Beyond Limits staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the event happened seamlessly and effectively.
And I'd also like to thank you, the members of the Uniting Church, who provide support and encouragement for KCO year after year.
There were many memorable moments at this year's camp. I'd particularly like to highlight the Saturday performance presented by the children's drama group from The Corner Uniting Church. This session touched the lives and hearts of our young people, making everyone stop and think about their actions and how to live more like Jesus.
Church camp is a place where memories and lifelong friends are made. It is a place that impacts the lives of young people. A place where children can grow in independence and maturity, and where they are provided an opportunity to grow closer to God.
The Uniting Church SA is committed to growing the spiritual development of our young people. We are incredibly proud of the 39 years of camp history that has seen many young people raised up as leaders and passionate disciples of Christ. We look forward to celebrating our 40th year of KCO in 2018.
Grace and peace,
Rev Sue Ellis
