Event details

In 2017, Pilgrim Uniting Church will celebrate a number of important historical milestones, with a series of special services to be held in June. This will provide a time to explore how Pilgrim Church is a ‘community of memory’.

The fourth special service will be held on Sunday 25 June. It will be a day to celebrate 180 years since the formation of the two founding
congregations; to acknowledge 150 years of the 1867 Flinders Street building, first named as Stow Memorial Church; to acknowledge when Pirie Street (Methodist) and Stow Memorial (Congregational) became Union Church in the City on Trinity in June 1969; and to celebrate the inauguration of the Uniting Church in Australia on 22 June 1977 when the congregation adopted the name Pilgrim Uniting Church.

Pilgrim Anniversary Sunday with a Civic Service at 11am with invited dignitaries.
Guest preacher: Rev. Dr Vicky Balabanski, Director of Biblical Studies, Uniting College.

The 8am and 9.30am services will welcome guest preacher Rev. Dr Brian Phillips, a former minister of the Pirie St Methodist Church, later Union Church in the City (now Pilgrim Church).
