Event details
The Effective Living Centre invites you to the third session of our four part Sunday afternoon series showcasing local readers and writers with a focus on social issues.
Dean Ashenden will discuss his book 'Telling Tennant's Story' - the strange career of the great Australian silence (Back Inc. 2022).
After a career in Education, Dean returned to Tennant Creek to try to understand how the story of the two racial groups has been told: from the first encounters, the early anthropologists, historians and the courts in landmark cases about land rights and the Stolen Generations, to the continuing controversy in the nation. Telling Tennant’s Story won the 2022 Australian Political Book of the Year, and will be for sale on the day.
Dean's talk will be followed by afternoon tea.
General admission $15, concession $12.
Please book online at: events.humanitix.com/readers-and-writers-3-dean-ashenden (opens in a new window)
The final speaker in this series will be Joelie Hancock on 26th May.
