Event details
Uniting College invites chaplains, deacons, counsellors and other ministry agents to attend a workshop on healing intergenerational trauma and family violence.
Faye Pouesi, an indigenous woman from Aotearoa New Zealand, is a skilled and experienced counsellor, therapist and supervisor who has worked for more than thirty years in the community and the prisons with individuals and families to transform deeply challenging life stories towards hope and healing.
She is the founder of Matanga Oranga based in Visionwest, a Baptist community services organization in Auckland. Faye's work includes a spiritual lens, utilizing among other things an approach gifted to Faye called Black Rain. This is a Kaupapa Maori (a Maori approach) to addressing family violence and trauma.
This workshop will introduce Faye and her own story of intergenerational trauma, set out the approach of Black Rain and its effect on families, and give time for questions and reflections together.
