Youth Mental Health First Aid Training 2023
Uniting College for Leadership and Theology
312 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Brooklyn Park
3 June 2023 8:30am - 4:30pm
Occasionally youth leaders will act as first responders to a young person who is struggling with their mental health. We want to assist our youth leaders in how to identify and respond appropriately to these conversations, and how to get a young person in crisis the help they need. In light of this, the Uniting Church State Youth Development Team, collaborating with Mission Resourcing, the Intergen Team and Safe Church SA are offering accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid training.
The course, accredited by Mental Health First Aid Australia and led by Rev Mark Dickens, will teach youth leaders how to:
Recognise common mental health problems in young people.
Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based action plan.
Seek appropriate professional help.
Respond in a crisis situation.
The training features an online component (approximately 4-5 hours, best undertaken over 2 sessions), which must be completed prior to attending the face-to-face learning component
at the Uniting College for Leadership and Theology on: Saturday 3rd June, 8.30am-4.30pm.
Full price: $150.00
Youth Leader price: $50.00 (Discount code applies)
Coffee, snacks and lunch provided.
Places are strictly limited and will be offered on a first-in, first-served basis.
Please note: You will not receive your accreditation until both components of the training have been completed.
