Music and Worship

Rosefield Uniting Church

2 Carlton Street, Highgate

23 October 2021 10:00am - 4:00pm

Event details

From the Israelites living in exile to the Psalms, to the church gathering together in Colossae, to Gregorian chant to Wesleyan hymns, to the pop rock of Hillsong, singing and music has always been a way for people to meet with and offer praise and prayer to God. What we sing shapes our theology and our knowledge.

The Uniting Church has a huge diversity in the style and shape of worship, and that diversity is reflected in the music that is used. How do we discern which style and option serves and nourishes our communities and creates purposeful, rich, beautiful worship?

This is an opportunity for church musicians to contemplate the how and why of having music in worship and their own practice. Come and join the Centre for Music, Liturgy and the Arts as we engage in conversation, share experiences and ideas and resources.
