A Multicultural Christmas Fest (carols and stories)

Pilgrim Uniting Church and Adelaide Central Market

12 Flinders Street, Adelaide SA 5000

12 December 2020 10:00am - 12:30pm

Event details

A multicultural Christmas fest (carols and stories) will be conducted at two venues - Adelaide Central Market (ACM) and Pilgrim UCA.

A diverse group of traditions will come together at the ACM (near Lucia's Cafe) to present Christmas Traditions in song and story.

Uncle Nelson Varcoe will lead the presentation, followed by members of the Chinese, Burundi and Korean congregations; with others such as a Muslim family from the Congo; families from Lebanon and Sudan singing songs in Arabic; a Buddhist presenting concepts of simplicity around Christmas; and Leigh Newton with a bevy of Australian-based Christmas carols.

We wish to celebrate with this unique mix of people at Pilgrim after the event. Some members from Pilgrim graciously offered to help as stage managers, COVID marshals and assistance as hosts around Pilgrim. Members of Pilgrim UCA are invited to support this music and story event at the market, and then to meet and greet at Pilgrim afterwards.

Please contact Liellie at 0437794410 or via email for more detail or if you would like to offer your skills or presence. SA Safe COVID regulations will be guiding this event and current updates from SA Health will be heeded in order to keep all safe.

(This event is supported by Liellie Mc Laughlin of Community Connections, a Pilgrim Uniting Church project.)
