Mindful Photography Workshop
St Andrew's by the Sea Uniting Church
92 Jetty Road Glenelg
9 February 2020 1:00pm - 4:00pm
SALA Festival visual artist Emiko Artemis Ph.D. will be your guide in this 3hr workshop that explores three methods of image-making. When speaking of photography, people often use aggressive words like 'capture', 'shoot' or 'take'. In mindful photography, images are allowed to gently settle and the focus is on the creative process rather than the act of creation.
In this workshop we will explore the outdoors and record moments of wonder, curiosity or beauty in small assemblages of objects we find. We will also look at shadows and how it can be an interesting way to record presence. Experienced shutterbugs can expand their camera skills while beginners are introduced to the concept of creative mindfulness.
Afternoon tea supplied. Bring your own camera or mobile phone. No experience necessary.
