On Sunday 3rd November 2019 Yilki Church will celebrate its 100th Birthday. The Moderator of the Uniting Church SA, Reverend Sue Ellis, will be the Preacher at the Sunday morning 10.30am Worship Service.
The Service will be followed by a Buffet Lunch then there will be an Afternoon of Nostalgia when it is hoped that memories will be shared by those that have been associated with the Yilki Church at various times over that 100 years. We also hope to visit the site of the Tabernacle Church and Cemetery, close by, that was built in 1846 and demolished in the 1880s. The maintenance of the historical grave yard has been handed over to the Victor Harbor Council.
Hopefully weather will allow those that are able to walk from the Yilki Church to the Tabernacle site and pass so many heritage listed properties that have been associated with legendry local family names such as the Rev Ridgway W. Newland, the Founder of the Tabernacle Church.
The Yilki Uniting Church Council are seeking input from the wider community to enhance the meaningfulness of the history of the Yilki Church.
