Arts by the Sea Cultural Expedition
Samurai Teppanyaki House
116 King William Road, Hyde Park
16 May 2019 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Arts by the Sea, a ministry of St Andrew's UC Glenelg, invites you to learn about the food, art and history of Japan's samurai era while dining at Australia's sole certified genuine teppanyaki restaurant.
Samurai Teppanyaki House is the first and only Australian restaurant recognised by the Japan Teppanyaki Association. Chefs Jack Liu and Clark Zhang each have more than 10 years of professional experience at fine-dining venues and five-star hotels. Their passion for fresh Aussie produce and authentic Japanese cuisine shines through in each offering from their kitchen.
Munetaka and Gail Umehara are prominent figures on the Adelaide arts and culture scene. A retired teacher and historian, Munetaka is also a highly accomplished musician and Adelaide's one and only kamishibai master. Retired lecturer and interpreter Gail joins him this evening to entertain and educate our guests about Japanese culture during the heyday of the warrior class.
Enjoy a five-course teppanyaki dinner prepared right in front of you by Jack and Clark as Munetaka and Gail take you on a journey back through time. For lovers of history, the arts and good food, this special event is a feast for all the senses!
