Assembly appointments

Assembly General Secretary Colleen Geyer has today announced four staff appointments for the Assembly.

The new staff include three appointments for National Consultant positions in the Assembly Resourcing Unit:

Rev Dr Apwee Ting        

Rev Dr Ting is currently the Assembly’s National Director for Multicultural and Cross Cultural Ministry, a former Minister of the Word at Dandenong Uniting Church in Victoria and former Chairperson of the UCA’s Indonesian National Conference.

Rev Lindsay Cullen       

Rev Cullen is the Minister at Bellingen Uniting Church and Northern Zone Minister for the Mid North Presbytery Secretary and formerly Resourcing Team Leader of Uniting Mission and Education in the UCA Synod of NSW & the ACT.

Rev Charissa Suli          

Rev Suli is Minister of the Word at Dapto Uniting Church in the Illawarra Presbytery, the longtime coordinator of the NextGen program at the UCA’s Tongan National Conference and a former Cross Cultural Consultant with the UCA Synod of NSW & the ACT’s Board of Mission.

Ms Geyer has also appointed Rev Dr Ji Zhang to a new position as the Assembly Theologian in Residence. This role will work across the Assembly, with the Assembly Resourcing Unit, UnitingWorld and UnitingCare Australia. Rev. Dr Zhang is currently serving as the Manager of Church Partnerships (Asia) for UnitingWorld.

“I am excited at the gifts and talents that these new staff will bring to their positions and to the work of the Assembly, and I can’t wait to see how they apply their gifts to delivering on our new Assembly Strategic Plan in a collaborative and project-based way of working,” says Ms Geyer.

“I would also like to thank National Consultant for Christian Unity, Doctrine and Worship Rev Dr Chris Walker and National Director of Formation, Education and Discipleship Craig Mitchell who will be concluding their roles with the Assembly at the end of July,” says Ms Geyer.

“Chris and Craig’s dedication to their Assembly roles and to the wider Uniting Church, has been a great blessing to the Church, and they both carry with them our prayers and our heartfelt thanks for their service.” 

Rev Dr Walker’s Closure of Ministry service will be held at the Assembly Standing Committee meeting in Sydney on Sunday 9 July. Arrangements for Mr Mitchell’s Closure of Ministry service in Adelaide will be notified in due course.
