We want suicide to be on the agenda for responsible media reporting and community action. We also want you to find hope and healing. You’re welcome to attend any, and all, of our events as we say that Suicide: It’s no secret.

Suicide Prevention Workshops

Wesley LifeForce are running two Suicide Prevention workshops designed to teach people how to identify signs that someone may be at risk of suicide and take appropriate action. These workshops will equip participants with a variety of skills such as managing suicidal crisis, understanding risk and protective factors, as well as how to recognise potential warning signs.

World Suicide Prevention Day

Thursday 10 September

World Suicide Prevention Day occurs on Thursday 10 September, 2015. More information about 2015 events for Suicide: it’s no secret will be available soon. In the meantime, contact the Uniting Church SA Solidarity and Justice Officer on justice@sa.uca.org.au with any queries. 

World Suicide Prevention Day Events

For those who have been touched by suicide, the Uniting Church in South Australia is planning to organise several remembrance services and low-key church openings, where people can sit quietly, contemplate or pray.

Below is a list of churches participating in Suicide: it's no secret 2015 (more to be advised):

Adelaide CBD services -

Scots Church Adelaide -  will open its doors to the community on World Suicide Awareness Day in 2015.  

The service will take place on World Suicide Awareness Day at Scots Church Adelaide on Thursday 10th September at 8.00am and last approximately 35 minutes. There will be an opportunity to light a candle during or after the service, and to take part in informal conversation over a cup of tea or coffee in the adjoining foyer area following the service.

The congregation, in collaboration with Uniting Church SA seeks to raise awareness about the impact of suicide, providing a hub of resources, education and a remembrance wall in front of the church on World Suicide Awareness Day.  Scots Church Adelaide is located on the corner of North Tce and Pultney Street, Adelaide. 9th September
MURRAY BRIDGE UNITING CHURCH - for Murray Bridge, Mypolonga, Rockleigh and Tailem Bend Uniting Churches and the wider community
Narooma Boulevard (off Monash Tce – Murray Bridge)

  • 3:00 – 7:00pm The church will be open for anyone from the wider community as a reflection space for a private quiet time and there will be guided activities if you wanted to use them.
  • 7:00 – 7:45pm The Service will be about 40 minutes and will be an opportunity to remember some one we have lost, or to stand beside those who have. A place for you to express your love, your pain, your hopes, and your tears. 

10th September
BERRI UNITING CHURCH – for Barmera, Berri, Loxton and Renmark Uniting Churches and the wider community
Denny Street Berri

  • 3:00 – 7:00pm The church will be open for anyone from the wider community as a reflection space for a private quiet time and there will be guided activities if you wanted to use them.
  • 7:00 – 7:45pm The Service will be about 40 minutes and will be an opportunity to remember some one we have lost, or to stand beside those who have. A place for you to express your love, your pain, your hopes, and your tears. 

13th September
BRDIGEWATER UNITING CHURCH - for Adelaide Hills region

  • 3 – 4pm Community ForumSpeakers: Dr. James Hundertmark (Psychiatrist) and Jill Chapman from MOSH (Minimisation of Suicide Harm).
  • 4 – 4:30pm Afternoon tea
  • 4:30 – 5pm Remembrance Service for anyone affected by suicide.

MOUNT GAMBIER UNITING CHURCH – for Gambier East, Port Macdonnell and Mount Gambier Uniting Churches and the wider community
