Reflection of the week

Posted in Faith

Jesus set an example for a balance of spirituality inviting his disciples to join him for a “time out”.

“So he said to them, ‘Let us go off by ourselves to some place where we will be alone and we can rest a while.’ So they started out in a boat by themselves to a lonely place.” – Mark 6:31-32

There would be many more demands on their time, and soon, while hungry people would clamber for attention.

Taking time out reduces the effects of modern life on my health and well-being, preventing physical and spiritual “burnout”.

Dear Lord, the pace of modern life is almost compulsive. The work ethic is ingrained in me.

How much better, if I could to pattern my life on yours, a balance of activity and “time out”.

You invite me to come with you, and to rest awhile, listening to the music of the bird calls in the park; the sighing of the wind; the drowsy, lapping tide.

You paint pictures, in the bouffant clouds, stirring my imagination, so that I marvel at the wonders of your creation.

I still my busy hands; quiet my busy mind, until I find my rest in you.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?
